DIAGNOSTIC SERVICES
DIAGNOSTIC SERVICES OFFERED AT THE EAR CLINIC
Adult Testing
Comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for adults with conductive and sensorineural hearing losses. Our multidisciplinary team will diagnose and treat disorders of the ear.
Air conduction, Bone conduction, Speech Reception Thresholds (SRT), and Word Recognition (WRS) testing
Evaluation of tympanic membrane (ear drum) function to help assess middle ear disorders
Examination of the ear canal and tympanic membrane (ear drum) to help assess outer and middle ear disorders
Pediatric Testing
Comprehensive hearing tests for children (pediatric patients 0 – 18 years old) with conductive and sensorineural hearing losses. Diagnostic evaluations include Otoscopy, Audiometry (VRA, CPA), Speech Testing, Tympanometry, Otoacoustic Emissions, and Acoustic Reflexes.
VRA is used to measure hearing thresholds for infants and young toddlers aged 6 months to 3 years with visual reinforcers
CPA is used to measure hearing thresholds for infants aged 2 to 5 years old with a variety of engaging and fun games
DPOAEs are used to screen hearing thresholds by assessing outer hair cell integrity and cochlear function
Advanced Testing
Audiological evaluations are often incomplete without more extensive testing and evaluation procedures. Balance and dizziness
evaluations are often disregarded. Procedures such as VHIT, VEMP, DIX-HALLPIKE, ROTARY CHAIR testing are offered.
With tympanometry, evaluation of middle ear function can offer insight and potential diagnoses of middle ear dysfuction
Acoustic reflexes measure the stapedius and tensor tympani reflex and can often indicate central nervous system pathology
ABR is often used to assess the functional status of the auditory neural pathway
Advanced vestibular testing to assess and diagnose imbalance and dizziness
